ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President and former Chief Minister resigned from party positions. As per details, PTI leader said that he had already condemned attacks on military instalments on May 9 after arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Pervez Khattak said that he will decide on his future plans after consultation with colleagues. What happened on May 9 was not good for country and it should not be repeated.

He said that it is difficult for him to continue holding a party position that’s why he announced his resignation from the position of President PTI KP. Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Amir Bakhsh Bhutto and Allah Bux Unar along with their companions quit party.

Earlier it was reported that Asad Qaiser and Pervez Khattak have reportedly been arrested from Islamabad as citing sources. Sources told that Asad Qaiser and Pervez Khattak were arrested from federal capital. They added that PTI leaders were shifted to an undisclosed location. Reports came after arrest of PTI President Pervaiz Elahi from outside his residence in Lahore.

Since the May 9 riots, dozens of party leaders including several bigwigs —  Shireen Mazari, Fawad Chaudhry, Aamir Mehmood Kiani and others — have parted ways with party chief Imran Khan.

However, Khattak following in the footsteps of his party colleague Asad Umar, who resigned from party positions including secretary general last week, only stepped down from the party position.
