Islamabad: Former Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, has been granted bail by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in a case related to an attack on a judicial complex, as reported by a private news channel.

Elahi, who also serves as the President of PTI, had submitted a bail plea in connection with the judicial complex attack case, which was heard by ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain. The judge approved Elahi's bail request, subject to a surety bond of Rs 20,000.

During the proceedings, Judge Zulqarnain noted the absence of substantial evidence during Elahi's remand period, leading to the dismissal of further investigation into his alleged involvement.

Prosecutor Raja Naveed argued that the FIR provisions were non-bailable. However, the court highlighted Elahi's absence from the FIR, casting doubt on the basis of his arrest.

Naveed clarified that the arrest had been made based on information provided by an informant, rather than relying on the FIR itself.

Following a thorough consideration of arguments from both sides, the court granted bail to Pervaiz Elahi. The verdict is set to be delivered in open court to ensure transparency and a comprehensive examination of the case.
