ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan Affairs Qamar Zaman Kaira said it was necessary to have peace in country to hold general elections as Imran Khan created chaos and uncertainty in country.
Addressing news conference, he said there was debate sparked in assemblies, media and decision-making circles due to postponement of provincial assembly elections in Punjab. Kaira said there was an uncertain situation in country which was at its peak. First goal during such situation was to make decisions with logic and reason.
At present, he said problems faced by country demanded stakeholders to take decisions with patience, vision and tolerance. He regretted that on contrary, everyone was trying to defeat his or her opponents either it was in departments or media.
Reality has gone obscure and people were left directionless, he said. Elections in two provinces were postponed and huge hue and cry was made on it and termed it major constitutional violation by Opposition.
Kaira said that coalition parties tried to stop Imran Khan from dissolving assemblies of KP and Punjab but it failed. “Powers whatsoever enshrined in constitution are based on some logic and demands from one who exercise to use it prudently,” he added.
He claimed that Punjab Assembly dissolved by then CM Pervaiz Elahi was not carried out as per his own will rather on Imran Khan’s whims. That decision, he said was not based on Elahi’s own free will, adding, “Election process involves security deployment, management of electoral staff, finances from Ministry of finance which is complete exercise,” he said.
