KARACHI: Former President and Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari said that an empowered parliament can decide future of country and nation and all democratic political parties should unite to empower parliament.

In his message to nation on Independence Day, he said that supremacy of elected parliament of people is essential for a free, independent and dignified Pakistan. He said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah laid foundation of Pakistan as an independent state. Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto made Pakistan a strong and stable country by giving it unanimous 1973 Constitution which is still a symbol of trust and bond between all units of federation.

Asif Zardari said that dictators distorted Constitution for power but failed. He said that only an empowered parliament can decide future of country and nation. He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto solidified pact of unity and solidarity between federation and all units with her blood. He said that 18th Amendment is guarantee of a strong and stable Pakistan. Now, time has come to make sustainable decisions for country and nation by fully implementing Charter of Democracy. All democratic political parties of country should unite to empower parliament.
