Gaza:Hamas on Friday called on the world to "act immediately" to stop Israel's bombardment of Gaza, saying "We call on the Arab and Muslim countries and the international community to take responsibility and act immediately to stop the crimes and series of massacres against our people," in a statement.

The call comes after Israeli military spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari's announcement of Israel increasing air and ground forces activities in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Army said its ground forces backed by fighter jets and drones carried out “Targeted raid” in Gaza over past day, as it prepares for land invasion.

“During last day, IDF ground forces, accompanied by IDF fighter jets and UAVs, conducted an additional targeted raid in central Gaza Strip,” an Army statement said.

“IDF identified and struck numerous terror targets, including anti-tank missile launch sites, military command and control centres, as well as Hamas members,” it said, saying troops “exited area at end of activity”.

Black-and-white footage released by military showed column of armoured vehicles as thick cloud of dust billowed into sky after strikes. Army conducted similar ground operation using tanks and infantry previous night in northern part of Palestinian territory.

Hamas government has said Israel cut communications and most of internet across Gaza Strip, foreign media  reports. Government media office has accused Israel of taking measure To perpetrate massacres with bloody retaliatory strikes from air, land and sea as heavy strikes hit northern Gaza.

Israeli military accused Islamist movement Hamas of using main hospital in Gaza as shield for its tunnels and operational centres.
