Pakistan’s ‘first-ever’ women-only ‘Pink Bus Service’ launched

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari successfully turning his desire into right action for the revamp and new structure of transportation in Karachi and across Sindh with state-of-the-art commuting facilities. The recent example is the initiative undertaken by the Sindh government after it launched country’s ‘first-ever’ Pink Peoples Bus Service here in metropolis that will be exclusively for women.
Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon talking to media after inauguration event said that pink bus service will run from Model Colony Malir to Tower via Shahrah-e-Faisal.
He said that buses will operate during working hours in morning and evening after every 20 minutes. “In rest of day, buses will operate after every hour,” he said. Initially, four pink buses will become operational on first route in city, said Sharjeel Memon.
Earlier, Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced to launch pink taxi cab service for women in Karachi.
“Government decided to launch taxi services in Karachi under Sindh Mass Transit Authority,” he said, adding that pink taxi service for women will be launched in first phase.
In public sector transport facilities, PPP is forefront runner in this sector in country as several public transport projects have been launched and are plying on Karachi roads besides in other cities in Sindh including Hyderabad and Larkana.
Most importantly PPP Sindh government is about to start manufacturing of public transport buses in assistance with China and moreover several projects are on cards in connection with Public-Private Partnership mode.
Pink Bus Service launch shows the commitment of Sindh government aimed at bringing comfort to the commuters with best transportation facilities.
In series, first Green Line BRTS launched, in second phase People Bus Service took to the streets in Karachi then White Electric Bus came into limelight and now this new addition of Pink Bus will hopefully bring smiles on faces of women gender.
