Pakistani-American Adeel Mangi set to create history in US judiciary

Washington: United States President Joe Biden has nominated Pakistani-American citizen Adeel Mangi to serve as judge in Federal Court of Appeals.
Joe Biden has officially chosen Pakistani-American citizen, jurist educated at Oxford and Harvard, as judge in Third Circuit of Federal Court of Appeals, according to reports from Washington Post.
Once confirmed by Senate, 46-year-old Adeel Mangi, originally from Karachi will become first Muslim judge on Federal Court of Appeals in United States. This nomination follows Biden’s appointment of Zahid N. Qureshi over two years ago, making him first Muslim to federal district court.
Adeel Mangi was one of eight nominees introduced by White House in this recent announcement.
White House said that nominee is highly qualified, experienced and committed to upholding rule of law and Constitution.
Adeel A. Mangi is lawyer at Patterson Belknap Webb and Tyler LLP. He has lot of experience and is involved in groups like Muslim Bar Association of New York and Legal Aid Society of New York. Mangi is committed to helping community.
Responding to news, US Senator Bob Menendez expressed his support on social media, stating that he had honour of meeting Adeel Mangi and recommending to President Biden that he appoint first American Muslim as judge of Court of Appeals.
