Pakistan, US agree to boost cooperation in IT, telecom sector

ISLAMABAD Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome agreed to enhance cooperation in IT and Telecommunication sector.
During meeting, matters of mutual interest related to IT and Telecommunication, digitalisation of Pakistan's judicial system and promotion of gaming industry were discussed, said news release. Talking to Ambassador, Shaza Fatima said that IT and Telecom sector of Pakistan is progressing. She said that Pakistan wanted to enhance its relations with US in field of IT and Telecom. She said that Pakistan wanted to work on promotion of gaming industry with collaboration of United States. She emphasised increasing business-to-business relations between Pakistan and US. Pakistan aspired to benefit from experiences of America in field of technology and exchange of IT experts between two countries. Minister said that present government is focusing on digitalisation in country.
Economy, governance and society are being digitalised under Prime Minister's National Digitalisation Plan, she maintained. Shaza Fatima said connectivity is foundation of digitalisation, adding that steps are on for provision of connectivity and quality broadband services in country. She said that private sector has very important role in uplift of economy, adding that private sector is being fully supported under vision of Prime Minister. Ambassador Donald Blome said that US will fully cooperate with Pakistan in field of IT and Telecommunication.
