Pakistan to launch 5G services within 10 months: Interim Minister

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Minister for IT and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif decided that 5G services will be launched in Pakistan within 10 months.
Development emerged after pivotal meeting between Saif and Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Maj Gen (retd) Hafeezur Rehman. Discussions delved into intricate matters of telecommunications, impending 5G auction and spectrum allocation.
Minister discussed in detail upcoming plans related to telecommunications, rollout of 5G spectrum, and strategies for optimal spectrum utilisation. Dr Umar Saif shed light on paramount importance of optimal spectrum utilisation and coordinated deployment of 5G network.
He expressed unwavering determination to eliminate hurdles by establishing priority-based criterion. He specifically highlighted that challenges related to taxation, telecom density and spectrum management would be actively addressed.
In alignment with this proactive stance, IT Minister reiterated administration's dedication to refining quality of telecom services, thus enhancing experience for consumers.
He underscored significance of optimising existing telecom provisions to ensure citizens derive utmost benefit from these services. Incidentally, Ministry of IT and Telecom had announced to roll out 5G by middle of 2023 and Ministry was vying to woo foreign investors too.
