Pakistan to host ‘Women in Islam’ conference in New York today

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan in its capacity as Chair of OIC Council of Ministers will host one-day conference on ‘Women in Islam: Understanding rights and Identity of women in Islamic World’ in New York today.

Conference will be held at UN Headquarters on sidelines of 67th Session of United Nations Commission on Status of Women. It is initiative of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as an effort to bridge gap between perception and reality on status of women in Islam.

Conference aims to counter gender stereotypes, harmful social norms, and cultural barriers towards empowerment of Muslim women.
