Pakistan to hand over SAARC CCI presidentship to B’desh today

LAHORE: Pakistan will hand over presidentship of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Chamber of Commerce and Industry an apex trade body in region to Bangladesh for two-year term today.

SAARC Chamber’s outgoing president Iftikhar Ali Malik will fork up command of chamber to Jashim Uddin, president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) at ceremony being held at Dhaka.

Jashim is Chairman of Bengal Commercial Bank Ltd, Chairman Desh General Insurance and Vice Chairman Bengal Group of Industries and distinguished philanthropist. He visited many courtiers including Far East, South Asian, Middle East, Europe, USA and North America to promote Bangladesh’s trade potentiality and investment opportunity.

Pakistan served SAARC for term of two years which is constellation of eight national Federation Chambers of Commerce and Industry of member states of SAARC.

Iftikhar Ali Malik said rationale behind creation of Chamber of SAARC countries was to promote trade and industry in region and to develop and achieve common objectives in areas of trade and industry.
