Pakistan to continue cooperation to uphold purposes, principles enshrined in UN Charter: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan firm resolve to continue cooperation for upholding purposes and principles enshrined in UN Charter.

Talking to UN Resident Coordinator Julien Harneis who called on him here yesterday Shehbaz Sharif appreciated significant role played by UN in supporting Pakistan’s progress towards attainment of UN Agenda 2030 and sustainable Development Goals. Prime Minister expressed serious concerns on devastation caused by recent floods across Pakistan. He said provision of humanitarian relief to people in affected areas is a high priority of his government. UN Resident Coordinator reiterated world body’s continued support to Pakistan in its ongoing endeavour for a resilient recovery from Covid-19 and sustainable development. UN resident coordinator also apprised PM of ongoing UN activities in Pakistan with reference to  sustainable development, aid on humanitarian grounds and climate change. Julien Harneis is discharging obligations as UN Resident Coordinator since January 2020 in Pakistan.
