Islamabad: Indian Charge d' Affaires summoned to register Pakistan's strong protest over killing of civilian at Line of Control (LoC).
Indian Charge d' Affaires was summoned to Ministry of Foreign Affairs to register Pakistan's strong protest over killing of 60-year-old civilian, Ghias resident of Oli village of Kotli district, as result of firing by Indian forces.
Incident took place in Nikial Sector of Line of Control (LoC) on August 21, 2023. Emphasising need for maintaining peace and tranquillity at LoC, it was underscored that such acts are in clear violation of 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, reaffirmed in February 2021.
It was stressed that utmost caution should be exercised by Indian forces as targeting innocent civilians is contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws.
Indian side was urged to investigate incident and respect Ceasefire Understanding.
