ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned highly provocative and sacrilegious remarks made against Holy Prophet (PBUH) by another official of BJP in India.

In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Asim Iftikhar said this is second time in last three months that a senior BJP leader has made disrespectful comments against our beloved Prophet (PBUH.

Spokesperson said these highly derogatory remarks have gravely hurt feelings of people of Pakistan and billions of Muslims around world. He said token and perfunctory disciplinary action taken by BJP against said official cannot assuage pain and anguish caused to Muslims of India and around world. He said it is highly reprehensible that BJP official was released on bail within hours of arrest and was welcomed by BJP zealots.

Asim Iftikhar said current incident once again highlights present Indian regime’s obsessively spiteful demeanour towards Muslims and worrying trajectory of Islamophobia in India. Fact is that India is nothing more than an undeclared ‘Hindu Rashtra’ where Muslims are routinely denigrated, dispossessed and marginalised and their religious beliefs are trampled under majoritarian hegemonism. Spokesperson said deafening silence of top BJP leadership on abhorrent incident manifestly reflects their approval and full support to radical Hindu zealots within and beyond BJP.

Asim Iftikhar demanded Indian government to take immediate and decisive action against BJP members habitually involved in attacking Islam and targeting dignity of beloved Prophet (PBUH). He called upon international community to take urgent cognisance of aggravating situation of Islamophobia in India and hold current BJP government to account for its overt espousal of an anti-Muslim and anti-Islam agenda.
