Pakistan seeks support from Germany for technical training in film: Minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb said that we want to show beauty of Pakistan culture and civilisation to entire world through Screen tourism.

Foreign Film makers should take advantage from special concessions given for filmmaking in Pakistan. We sought support from German Institutions for technical training in film, art and culture.

She expressed her views during meeting with German Ambassador Alfred Grannas. Pakistan and Germany have agreed on bilateral cooperation in field of film, art and culture in meeting.

Discussion was held on proposal of cooperation with University of Babelsberg and university of Television and film Munich.

Maryam Aurangzeb apprised German Ambassador about film and culture policy of government of Pakistan and incentives given under policy.

She said, film, art and culture can be promoted by cooperation between German and Pakistani educational institutions. Minister appreciated services of German NGOs GIZ and Hans Seidel foundation in Pakistan.

She expressed his gratitude for German assistance of 18.4 million Euros to flood victims in Pakistan. She said that promise of Germany to provide 84 million Euros in aid to international Conference in Climate change was another proof Germany Friendship with Pakistan.

She said that volume of bilateral trade needs to be increased from 4 billion dollars. Minister said that Iqbal and Goethe were common assets between two countries.

People of two countries will come closer to each other by establishment of Iqbal art and culture centre in Berlin.

German Ambassador appreciated efforts of Information Minister for promotion of film and culture.
