Pakistan, Saudi FMs agree to bolster cooperation in diverse sectors

NEW YORK: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed to deepen mutual cooperation in all fields, especially economy, trade, energy and investment.
Understanding to effect came during meeting of Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on sidelines of 78th Session of UNGA in New York.
Two foreign ministers exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues. They emphasised vital importance of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia relations.
Foreign Minister Jilani thanked Saudi leadership for their generous and unwavering support for Pakistan, which was particularly instrumental in securing deal with IMF.
He apprised his Saudi counterpart of formation of Special Investment Facilitation Council to facilitate and fast-track potential investments from GCC member states, especially Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He emphasised that mutually rewarding Pak-Saudi cooperation in key areas including IT, energy, infrastructure and labour must be fast-tracked and augmented. He thanked Saudi counterpart for hosting more than two million Pakistani diaspora which not only contributes towards development of both countries but also forms vital bridge between two brotherly nations.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud highlighted brotherly relations between two nations and valuable contributions made by Pakistani community in development of Kingdom.
Foreign Minister reiterated that Pakistan eagerly looked forward to visit of Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan.
