Pakistan not facing risk of default: Ghaus Pasha

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for finance Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha said that government paid Sukuk bonds and Pakistan was not facing risk of an economic default. Talking to media, she said that talks were going on with International Monetary Fund adding that country intended to complete IMF programme.
Ayesha further said that government strived hard to get country out from verge of default adding that country needs $ 16 billion to recover losses incurred due to floods. Talking about next tranche of IMF, she said that next tranche would be released after approval by IMF Board. Talks with World Bank, Asian Development Bank and other monetary organisations were going on, she added. Addressing concerns regarding country’s economic default, Dr Pasha said that crisis was not severe enough to lead country to economic default adding that country had ample resources to face risk.
