ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar claimed that Pakistan has met all conditions set by International Monetary Fund (IMF) for staff-level agreement and that lender’s mission for review will soon get staff-level agreement approved by fund’s executive board. “IMF will soon sign staff level agreement with Pakistan and get approval from its executive board,’ Dar said.
Finance Minister said that country has also informed Washington-based lender about financing by Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. “Saudi Arabia and UAE have confirmed that they are going to provide respectively $ 2 billion and $ 1 billion to Pakistan,” he said.
Dar earlier held virtual meeting with World Bank South Asia Vice President Martin Raiser. Meeting was part of WB-IMF Spring Meetings 2023 held in Washington.
He told official about completion of WB-supported reforms, especially those supported under Resilient Institutions Strengthening Programme-II (RISE), under which major reforms like harmonisation of GST had been completed, said a press release issued by Finance Ministry.
