ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government has launched a comprehensive initiative aimed at imparting IT skills to 200,000 youth annually, a move designed to foster growth in the country's digital economy.
This announcement was made by the Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, during a ceremony held earlier today. Minister Iqbal emphasized that the new program would enable young people across Pakistan to contribute meaningfully to the nation's digital transformation. He highlighted that, with the right skills, Pakistan's youth can become a key driving force in the development of the country's digital economy. The initiative aims not only to equip young individuals with essential IT capabilities but also to empower them with the tools necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. Moreover, Iqbal stressed the potential of Pakistani youth in promoting the country's rich art, culture, and heritage on a global stage. He noted that through showcasing the creativity of young people, Pakistan could establish a strong global presence, marketing its unique cultural assets to international audiences. The program, according to the Minister, is designed to highlight the talent of Pakistani youth and open up new avenues for international recognition and collaboration. Later, in a conversation with reporters, Iqbal also addressed the ongoing political talks in the country. He assured that the government is fully committed to ensuring the success of these discussions.
The Minister reiterated that the government is working to create a conducive environment for meaningful dialogue to resolve the country's political challenges. When asked about the rising threat of terrorism, Iqbal pointed to the policies of the former PTI government as a contributing factor to the resurgence of terrorism in the country. He assured the public that the government would take decisive action to tackle this issue, drawing on past successes in curbing terrorism during 2013 to 2017. He expressed confidence that the government would overcome this challenge once again. In response to questions about Afghanistan, Iqbal affirmed that the Pakistan Army is fully capable of responding effectively to any threats from across the border, ensuring the nation's security and stability.
