Pakistan Hockey Team announced for qualifier event

LAHORE: The Pakistan Five-sid Hockey Team has been announced to participate in the Five-sided Hockey World Cup Qualifier event. Rana Abdul Waheed Ashraf will lead the Pakistan hockey team as the captain in the five-side Asia Cup, while Muhammad Abdullah will be the vice-captain.

Pakistan Hockey Federation Secretary General Haider Hussain announced the Pakistan Five-Aided Hockey Team after the final approval of President PHF Brigadier Rukhalid Sajjad Khokhar on the recommendations of the National Hockey Selection Committee. The Pakistan Hockey Federation has appointed 1994 World Cup gold medalist Olympian Wasim Feroze as the head coach of the Pakistan Five-Aided Hockey Team to participate in Salalah, Amman on August 29 and September 2.

Pakistan five side hockey team includes Goalkeepers: Abdullah Ishtiaq Khan, Ali Raza, Defender: Muhammad Abdullah, Midfields: Ehtsham Aslam, Muhammad Murtaza Yaqoob, Strikers: Arshad Liaquat, Zakaria Hayat, Rana Abdul Waheed Ashraf, Abdul Rehman and Abdul Wahab.

According to Secretary General PHF Haider Hussain, the Pakistan Hockey Squad will depart from Islamabad on PIA Flight PK 131 at 10:00 AM to participate in the Five-Aided Hockey World Cup Qualifier event on August 28.

11 teams will participate in the five-sided Asia Cup, including teams from Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong China, Kazakhstan, Malaysia and the host country Oman.
