New York: Pakistan cricket team has reached New York City (NYC) and opted out of training. Pakistan team lost to United States of America (USA) in super over.

Babar Azam-led playing XI was not able to handle the pressure in the first match of the mega cricketing event. Pakistan performed poorly in batting, bawling, and fielding. Pakistan cricket team fans backed the team but cautioned team players needed to realise importance of ICC T20 World Cup trophy.According to a post on X by PTV News, the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York announced the arrival of the Green Shirts.

The team, led by Captain Babar Azam, was warmly welcomed by Consul General Aamer Ahmad Atozai, who extended his best wishes for their World Cup campaign. Consul General Atozai emphasised the importance of support from the Pakistani community in the US, saying, “We urge the Pakistani diaspora and cricket enthusiasts in New York and across the United States to come out in large numbers to support our team. Your encouragement and presence will undoubtedly boost the morale of our players and inspire them to achieve great success.” He wished the team a “successful and memorable tournament.” Despite the warm reception, the team is recovering from a surprising loss to the United States in their tournament opener on Thursday. This unexpected defeat has left both cricket experts and fans stunned. Pakistan’s next challenge will be against arch-rivals India on June 9 at 7:30 PM (PKT) at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. Following this, Pakistan will face Canada on June 11 at the same venue.
