Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has cleared the outstanding dues about the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Junior League (PJL). The PCB management committee member, Shakil Shaikh, announced this in a tweet on his Twitter account. “Ramiz’s messy financial backlog of Pak [Pakistan] Jr [Junior] League (PJL) is cleared. New PCB admin u/ [administration under] Najam Sethi has made payments to all foreign/local players and mentors,” tweeted Shaikh. “As he bought a bullet-proof car for himself, Ramiz left behind massive outstanding payments and $4.3 mln [million] losses,” he added. Earlier, the captain of one of the PJL franchises, Gwadar Sharks, Shamyl Hussain, had claimed that players from the Pakistan Junior League had not yet received any payment from the PCB.
In a conversation regarding PJL's expenses on January 2nd, the 18-year-old tweeted, “We never got paid.” The local players did not receive any payment from the cricketing body despite the project costing PCB PKR 1 billion, of which 440 million were listed as match fees for players and support staff. Earlier in a Saturday meeting at the National High-Performance Centre, the PCB Management Committee agreed to discontinue the league.
