CHRISTCHURCH: Muhammad Rizwan shined with a composed fifty at Christchurch Friday as Pakistan overcame Bangladesh in first Tri-series match by 21 runs. Pakistanis were able to post a reasonable total of 167-5 at scoreboard, Rizwan being the leading run-scorer with an unbeaten 78.
Bangladesh were later restricted by Pakistan’s mixture of fierce pace bowling and tricky spin attack to only a 146-8, leaving them 21 runs behind. Muhammad Rizwan, who was declared man of the match, said being patient after being sent in laid the foundation for a winning score.
“Early on the ball was a little bit grippy but me and the skipper decided to keep things simple,” he said. “We did very well but I thought we were 10 to 15 runs short on this kind of pitch.“After that, the bowlers bowled very well to the plan.” Pakistan will be facing hosts New Zealand today in series’ second match.
