Pak prosperity lies in implementing skilled education: Minister

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Minister for Education and Professional Training Madad Ali Sindhi said that skills development and technical education can play critical role in economic prosperity of country.

Addressing at laptop distribution ceremony, organised by National Skills University (NSU) here he said that institutions like NSU need to be developed in every district of country. NSU’s curriculum and teaching-learning practices must be replicated nationwide due to its unique nature, he added.

He said that Pakistan’s future lies in enhancing youth employability by improving soft and hard skills required at workplaces. Minister stressed need to enhance opportunities for youth to learn skills in all provinces of Pakistan. He said that there was a dire need to develop more such institutions in all provinces.

Sindhi said that skills development can lead to enhancing employability/entrepreneurial opportunities for youth nationwide. Introducing Skills Learning programmes at district level will be an opportunity to popularise skills education linked with employability and job markets.

Vice Chancellor NSU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar outlined successes of University over past four years. University has been transformed from deserted place to most progressive skills learning centre, got recognition from UNESCO/UNEVOC, participated in UNEVOC Network Coaction Initiative 2022 and is continuing this honour for 2023.

Minister interacted with students receiving laptops in their meritorious accomplishments. He advised students to pay attention to their studies and learn employable skills. He praised contribution of University’s Advisory Council toward their support of curriculum development and its alignment with workplace-ready learning.
