Pak-Korea ‘trade volume’ needs to be increased: CG Kim

KARACHI: National Foundation Day of Korea was celebrated in mesmeric gathering of city’s elite yesterday at a local hotel. Consul General Republic of Korea Kim Haksung addressing event said, “Pakistan and Korea enjoys a very cordial relationship for decades and our relationship will reach a new turning point next year as we will going to celebrate 40th anniversary of our diplomatic bond.”
Korean CG said that close coordination in different fields of interest and mutual visits of top brass of government officials from both sides will play a vital role in further strengthening our friendly relationship.
Kim Haksung said that it is need of hour to increase volume of trade between Korea and Pakistan as at present it is unsatisfactory and ease of doing business, innovative business ideas and close interaction of members of business community will revitalise and enhance trade by taking businesses to new heights of success in future.
Sindh Minister for Labour and Human Resources Saeed Ghani who was chief guest congratulated Korean people on National Foundation Day and expressed good wishes for strengthening ties and long-term bond between both countries.
Around 10,000 Pakistanis are working in Korea, 1,500 students are getting education whereas 800 Koreans are residing in Pakistan along with 20 companies engaged in different businesses.
Considering devastating floods in Pakistan, Korean Consul General informed that initially Korean government provided $ 300,000 in shape of first aid emergency aid while five Korean companies donated around $ 500,000 to help out flood-affected people.
Commissioner Karachi Iqbal Memon, Dr Afsha Administrator DMC (South), diplomats from various countries including China, Japan, Qatar, UAE, Indonesia, Bangladesh, etc along with members of business community, politicians, government officials and journalists attended event.
