Pak FO says clear ‘no’ to any economic, diplomatic ties with Israel

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office (FO) categorically stated that Pakistan has neither diplomatic nor economic ties with Israel.

FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Islamabad’s policy on Israel remains “Unchanged”. Clarification comes two days after recent statement by American Jewish Congress (AJC) was shared on social media on purported offloading of shipment carrying Pakistani-originated food products in Israel.

Earlier, Pakistani Jewish man, Fishel Benkhald had claimed also claimed on Twitter that he had become first exporter of Pakistani food edible products to Israel.

Post had triggered strong reaction online from certain quarters, under presumption that trade was connected to shift in relations with Israel. It may be noted that controversy over Pakistan’s ties with Israel had been stirred earlier last year over reported visit of “Pakistani delegation” to Israel. “There is no change in our policy on which there is complete national consensus. Pakistan steadfastly supports Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination,” spokesperson remarked.
