Pak envoy, Secy Gen ASEAN discus mutual cooperation

Jakarta: Ambassador of Pakistan to Indonesia Timor Leste and ASEAN Muhammad Hassan and Secretary General of ASEAN Kao Kim Hourn discussed mutually beneficial cooperation between ASEAN and Pakistan.

Pakistan valued long-standing relations with ASEAN based on mutual respect, cordial and shared values in region, he added.

He briefed on current trajectory of Pakistan-ASEAN relations. He highlighted current Pakistan’s initiatives to enhance mutually beneficial engagement under Practical Areas of Cooperation, including successful execution of First short Diplomatic Course for diplomats from ASEAN countries in Foreign Service Academy in Islamabad in September 2022. A second diplomatic course is planned to be held in May this year, he stated.

A short training course for central bank employees of ASEAN member states by National Institute of Banking and Finance in May, 2023, an ASEAN-Pakistan Business Opportunities Conference and training course for Customs professionals were at final stages of approval and implementation. 

Secretary General lauded Pakistan’s active participation and contribution to ASEAN Regional Forum and hoped that it will continue in future. He thanked for invitation to visit Pakistan and hoped that it would take place soon.
