ISLAMABAD: Sub-committee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has sought details of posting of employees in FBR who have returned money through plea bargain or voluntarily in corruption cases.

Court directed to contact Advocate General with reference to FBR court cases. Committee met here under its convener Nawab Sher in Parliament House.

Audit objections in respect of FBR for year 2017-18 were reviewed in meeting. Nawab Sher Wasir said Chairman FBR has not come. Committee accepted justification of non-presence of FBR Chairman.

He said, “I wonder that your reply is No to all questions from audit. You make commitment but don’t fulfill it. Your cases are running from years upon years. You officers don’t want to sit along with each other.

Audit told committee that audit of documents of 800 taxpayers was conducted and considerable difference was found between statements and returns. Amount of 41 billion rupees is still there and no recovery action has been taken towards it.
