LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and reaffirmed his support in dissolution of Punjab Assembly.

While informing about meeting, former Federal Minister Moonis Elahi took to twitter and penned, “We (PML-Q) have assured Imran Khan that Chief Minister’s slot belongs to Khan and CM Elahi will dissolve assembly whenever Khan directs [him]”. Earlier, CM has placed his recommendations on dissolution before Imran Khan during meeting at Zaman Park Lahore.

Sources privy to meeting informed that during meeting Elahi said that decision of dissolution rested only with Imran Khan and country should move towards snap polls in case ruling coalition resigned from Assembly”.

Matters pertaining to constitutional procedures and expected plans of PDM before moving onto dissolution were also brought up during meeting.

Elahi added that PDM is merely bragging about their vote count in assembly as opposition alliance does not have required majority to topple government in province.

“Imran Khan is indispensable,” CM Elahi said and challenged opposition to table no-confidence motion against him. “They have failed before and will fail again.” PML-Q leader said opposition is “daydreaming” if it thinks it can overthrow Punjab government. He added that opposition does not have required numbers. “If Punjab Assembly is in session, then governor’s rule cannot be imposed. It is my honest advice to opposition: please read rules of business.” “Whatever Imran Khan says, I will act without hesitation. Punjab Assembly [is a small thing], I will give my life for Imran Khan,” Chief Minister said. Sources said, Imran Khan will meet parliamentary party in provincial assembly after acquiring unconditional support from CM.

Elahi said he would not “hesitate for a moment” when Khan orders him to dissolve the assembly as he will keep supporting all of the PTI chief’s decisions.

He added that the elements behind creating misconceptions in the camps of PTI and PML-Q would “fail again” as he slammed the opposition for claiming that they were in contact with the government’s lawmakers.
