Operation continues to eliminate encroachments, billboards: DC Taha

KARACHI: Anti Encroachment Department District Central dislodged billboards and roadside advertisement boards on instruction of Deputy Commissioner and Administrator District Central Taha Saleem. In compliance with Supreme Court’s directives action was initiated in district. This drive will continue till removal of all such illegal advertising materials, DC Central said.

District should be cleared from billboards as they caused accident by falling due to strong winds and storms and hurt human life and property. He said that any languor will not be tolerated. Taha Salim directed Anti-Encroachment Department to strictly follow orders of Supreme Court to clear all encroachments from District and also ensure fresh encroachments should not be cropped. He said that encroachments are threat to human life and property.

Such activity stigmas urban life and hinder clarity of environment. He said demolishing billboards along with roadside, footpaths and other public gathering centres also hampers smooth business and commercial activities. On other hand goods and furniture on footpaths and in front of shops should also be removed and shopkeepers should be warned of strict action in case of emergence after action. Under 100/Parks project, rehabilitation of dilapidated parks is also being carried out on fast track. Currently, number of parks that have been opened for public after rehabilitation has increased to more than 35. Such steps will ensure better environment to visiting families to parks, he added.
