On non-payment, K-E cuts off orphanage’s connection

KARACHI: On non-payment of monthly bill of Rs 11,000, K Electric cut off electricity of orphans’ home. Under duress elder sister became agitated and got on car and slapped a K-E employee.

K Electric officials allegedly pressured woman to file case and humiliated her. Woman kept apologising, and video went viral. However police settled matter after conciliation. According to details, orphan siblings living in area of ??Thana Iqbal Market of Orangi Town could not pay bill for one month due to inflation and financial issues.  KE employee got down from car showing restraint. Video of incident also went viral on social media. On this situation, staff of K Electric approached Iqbal Market Police Station for case.  On being summoned, woman reached police station and while admitting her mistake, she held hands with staff and kept apologising to them. Meanwhile, staff scolded him showing pharaohism. Video of this humiliation of woman was made and made viral on social media. When contacted, Shah Faisal Khan, SHO of Iqbal Market Police Station said that after woman apologised, he had resolved issue by reconciling two parties. After which no legal action was taken against woman and she was not arrested.

When contacted, K Electric spokesperson took same stand that woman was very rude but later realised her mistake and apologised. Citizens have expressed their anger against K Electric on social media after video of woman’s humiliation went viral. Citizens said that despite such inflation, electricity bills are coming very high, but no one is listening to citizens of Karachi. Citizens are suffering from inflation.
