PUNJAB: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan's largest exploration and production (E&P) company, has successfully revived a heavy oil well in the Rajian Oil Field located in Punjab.

The company announced this significant development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday. The Rajian Oil Field, situated in Gujar Khan EL, Chakwal district, previously had four heavy oil-producing wells, which collectively produced 1,500 barrels per day (bpd). With the revival of the Rajian-3A well, production capacity has now increased to 2,500 bpd. OGDCL's production optimization plan includes 11 workover jobs and the installation of advanced artificial lift systems. The Rajian-3A well, which was temporarily suspended in 2020 due to formation challenges, has now been completed using an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) in the Chorgali-Sakessar and Tobra formations.

This effort has successfully revived production at the well, contributing an additional 1,000 bpd to the output. The company anticipates further production increases as the optimization program continues for the remaining wells. OGDCL's Rig N-4 will stay at the Rajian field to support these efforts. The company emphasized that this development showcases its commitment to operational efficiency and its leadership in Pakistan's energy sector. In addition to this, OGDCL began production of natural gas from the Uch-35 well in Balochistan last month.
