No new mega schemes for Karachi in Sindh budget

Karachi: Karachi will not see any new mega schemes in Sindh’s budget for fiscal year 2024-25, with Rs 1.38 billion allocated for ongoing projects, according to details. Karachi BRT Red Line project received Rs 2.79 billion in upcoming budget.

Karachi Urban Mobility Yellow Line project was allocated Rs 60.97 million. Rs 850 million will be spent on Karachi Orange Line project next fiscal year and Rs 3 billion has been earmarked for purchase of 300 diesel hybrid buses. Greater Karachi Sewerage Plan (S-III) project received Rs 3.18 billion, while K-IV water supply project was allocated Rs 100 million.Rs 75 million has been allocated to Karachi Livable Improvement Project to make city more livable. In Safe City project’s Phase One, 1,300 new cameras will be installed in Red Zone Airport Corridor, with Rs 1.10 billion allocated.Under Sindh Police Video Surveillance System, 10,000 CCTV cameras will be installed at 2,000 new locations in Karachi, with Rs 1.63 million set aside for this purpose. Additionally, Rs 1.3894 billion has been allocated for 11 ongoing schemes in city.
