ISLAMABAD:  Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that there is no chance of polarisation in judiciary. Reacting to appointment of Justice Yahya Afridi as next Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iqbal said, “There was need to appoint minimally controversial Chief Justice in Supreme Court.” “Chief Justice who was needed to spearhead had been appointed in apex court,” he added.

Underlining appointment of judges in United States and India, he said, “It is up to Congress to approve appointment of judges in US. Meanwhile, it is up to Parliament to appoint judges.” “Lawmakers in India can even hold judges accountable,” he added.
