ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said next government should focus on ‘Economic Revival Plan.’ Addressing foundation stone laying ceremony of model Special Economic Zone (SEZ), PM Shehbaz said, “International Monetary Fund (IMF) increased pressure on us. It is much appreciated that friendly countries have supported Pakistan.”
“We informed friendly countries that hopefully Pakistan will not need to ask them for loans again,” he added. “In past, SEZ has received absolutely no investment. It is imperative to hand over industrial zones to business community on lease,” he added.
“Who will be willing to invest, premier argued, if government keeps raising price of lands? Concept of leasing lands will hasten growth of nation,” he maintained. He showed confidence in overtaking neighbouring country’s economy. He reiterated his call for national unity on Charter of Economy.
Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif in telephonic conversation with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan President of United Arab Emirates expressed profound gratitude for latter unwavering support in ensuring economic and financial stability in Pakistan.
This reflected UAE President deep affection and care for welfare of Pakistani people, he said in statement issued by PM Office. He expressed gratitude for generous deposits of $ 1 billion in State Bank of Pakistan. He also expressed appreciation for His Highness’ kind invitation to attend COP28 and commended UAE’s proactive role in combating climate change.
During conversation, both leaders emphasised importance of further advancing economic, trade and investment ties between Pakistan and UAE. They discussed creation of greater opportunities for Pakistani workforce in UAE. Additionally, leaders exchanged views on various regional and international issues of mutual interest.
