New grading system for matric, inter levels on card

Karachi: Nationwide Committee of Chairmen of Educational Boards decided to replace existing grading system at inter [grade XII] and matric [grade X] level with 10-point system across country. Decision was made in Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) meeting held in Lahore. Meeting was chaired by Secretary Universities and Boards Mureed Rahimo.

Under new proposed grading system, minimum passing marks had been increased from 33 to 40, while term ‘F’ or ‘Fail’ would be removed from student’s examination remarks and in its place new term ‘U’ means unsatisfactory would be introduced. New grades are ‘A++’ or ‘Exceptional’ for students securing 95-100 percent marks, ‘A+’ or ‘Outstanding’ for 90-95 percent marks, ‘A’ or ‘Remarkable’ for 85-90 percent marks, ‘B++’ or ‘Excellent’ for 80-85 percent marks, ‘B+’ or ‘Very Good’ for 75-80 percent marks, ‘B’ or ‘Good’ for 70-75 percent marks, ‘C’ or ‘Fair’ for 60-70 [percent marks, ‘D’ or ‘Satisfactory’ for 50-60 percent marks, ‘E’ or ‘Sufficient’ for 40-50 percent marks. New marking system will be presented in IBCC soon and it will be introduced across country after receiving IBCC approval.
