ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) deferred its decision on power tariff hike for Karachi consumers and referred it to government, according to report.
Nepra was moved for increasing power tariff by Rs 4.45 per unit. It referred matter to federal government, maintaining it will be processed as per government policy guidelines.
Reportedly, authority approved Rs 1.55 per unit increase in electricity price for consumers of Karachi last week. Hike was made in wake of previous fiscal year’s second quarterly adjustment.
In May, Nepra okayed Rs 3.70 per unit hike in power tariff for K-Electric consumers on monthly fuel adjustment charges. Hike in power tariff for K-Electric consumers was approved on account of fuel charge adjustment (FCA) for March.
