NEPRA approves Rs11.10 hike in power tariff

ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) notified an increase in power tariff by Rs 11.10 per unit for K-Electric consumers on account of fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for June 2022 amid worsening power outages in metropolis. FCA for June 2022 will be charged with bill for August and September 2022, which will be paid by all K-Electric consumer categories except lifeline consumers.

Rs 11.10 increase will put a burden of over Rs 25 billion on consumers, including GST. “Said adjustment shall be shown separately in consumers’ bills based on units billed in month of August and September 2022 by K-Electric,” notification mentioned. Regulatory authority clarified that out of a total FCA of Rs 10.11 per kWh, an amount of Rs 3.01 per kWH shall be charged in billing month of August and Rs 8.09 per kWh in billing month of September. It is worth mentioning that in June, regulatory body raised basic power tariff by Rs 7.9078/kWh for next fiscal year 2022-23 increasing burden of inflation on people.
