NEPRA approves another hike in power tariff

ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approved an increase of Rs 1.90 per unit on account of monthly fuel charges adjustment (FCA), according to report.
This amount will be recovered from consumers in month of August. Furthermore, increase in electricity tariff will apply to all consumer categories except lifeline consumers and KE users.
Increase in power tariffs will put Rs 23 billion in additional pressure on already burdened masses, who are struggling to make ends meet amidst rising inflation and weak economy.
Separately, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority jacked up electricity prices by Rs 1.25 per unit on account of third quarter adjustments of financial year 2022-23.
This amount will be recovered from consumers in period of three months-July, August and September 2023.
Furthermore, increase in electricity cost will apply to all consumer categories except lifeline consumers and KE users.
