NCC reviews projects worth $5.6bn

ISLAMABAD: National Coordination Committee on Foreign-Funded Projects (NCC-FFP) reviewed 12 ongoing road and transport sector projects amounting to $ 5.6 billion. Projects are funded by Asian Development Bank, World Bank, Saudi Fund for Development, Japan and South Korea.
Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq chaired meeting. Minister for Planning and Minister of State for Finance, Secretary of Economic Affairs Division, provincial additional chief secretaries, representatives of Prime Minister Office, Finance Division, Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority and provincial P&D and line departments and boards of revenues attended.
NCC-FFP in follow-up meeting reviewed compliance status of its decisions made in its previous meetings held on transport and communication sector.
Ayaz Sadiq lauded efforts of line ministries and departments for smooth implementation of foreign-funded projects in sector, which, he said, were significant for improving regional connectivity and facilitating trade with Afghanistan and Central Asia.
He directed line departments to strictly follow timelines for expeditious implementation of projects and in timely and efficient manner so that people could benefit from them without any delay.
