Bollywood is all about recycling old classic songs now and more often than not, remixes disappoint fans. This time, Pakistan’s pop icon Nazia Hassan’s iconic track Aap Jaisa Koi got revamped version for upcoming film, An Action Hero, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and fans call new song an ‘atrocity.’

Revamped version, sung by Zahrah S Khan and Altamash Faridi was released on YouTube. It also marks comeback of Chaiyya Chaiyya dancer Malaika Arora. Hassan’s vocals were initially picturised on Zeenat Aman, and late actors Feroz Khan and Vinod Khanna in 1980 Bollywood film Qurbani. Aap Jaisa Koi was a touchstone track in disco movement back in day. However, effort to recreate heavily auto-tuned newer remixed version has not only felt “unnecessary” but also “criminal” for fans.

Social media users took to twitter to rant about how Indian industry should stop “ruining classics” and focus on creating new music instead and how originals remain “unmatched.”  Without directing any hate towards Arora, some fans even commented on how song only belonged to Aman and that Bollywood should leave her songs alone for no one can do justice to dance movements better than she did.
