ISLAMABAD: PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif warned upcoming government will need to make “Difficult decisions” in next two years, saying that his younger brother Shehbaz is best choice for premiership, especially in current circumstances Pakistan is in.
Addressing party’s parliamentary session here, he lauded Shehbaz Sharif’s performance as Prime Minister during tenure of Pakistan Democratic Movement. Nawaz Sharif made scathing remarks aimed at elements within judiciary and military establishment, labelling them as “Criminals” of Pakistan for their role in installing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf despite significant progress achieved during his tenure as Prime Minister.
Addressing media after PML-N’s parliamentary party meeting here Nawaz directly confronted those he believed were responsible for his ouster, stating, “You did not oppress me but people of Pakistan by imposing these [PTI] people.”
“Way he [Shehbaz] stopped country from defaulting is unprecedented,” Nawaz Sharif said, hoping that Pakistan would emerge out of current crises in next one or two years.
“Pakistan is badly wounded at this time,” he said, noting that upcoming government will have to make difficult decisions in next two years. He pointed out that inflation was ‘biggest problems’ in such difficult circumstances.
“We have to give ease to public, we have to fix prices of electricity and gas, we have to make Pakistan stand on its feet,” he stressed. He said that party leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will contest election for National Assembly speaker. Nawaz Sharif emphasised that all political parties should work on special agenda to take country out of crisis.
“Do your own politics, opposition is also part of politics, but don’t endanger Pakistan and system,” he highlighted. He pointed out that despite dharnas by PTI during his previous tenure, PML-N led federal government continued to work for country and fulfilled all its commitments to public.
Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif PML-N nominee for Prime Minister castigated President Dr Arif Alvi for ‘violating Constitution’ by not summoning the National Assembly session.
