Nawaz Sharif’s return: PM Shehbaz forms legal team

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed legal team for completing legal work for return of former premier and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Supremo Nawaz Sharif. PM Shehbaz Sharif constituted legal team headed by Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar. Other members in legal team include PM’s special assistant Attaullah Tarar, Irfan Qadir and other legal experts.

Amjad Parvez who had pursued other cases of Nawaz Sharif was also included in legal committee.

Sources told that committee will expedite follow-up of cases against former premier. It will speed up legal work for dissolution of cases against Nawaz Sharif and its disqualification to remove legal barriers in his return to country.

Development came after government passed an amendment bill in Election Act 2017, abolishing lifetime disqualification of lawmakers under Article 62 (1) (f).

Passage of legislation in lower house set aside obstacle of lifetime disqualification for Nawaz Sharif, who could contest election for public office again after bill will be signed by President into law.
