Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif lambasted Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah over Chief Minister Parvez Elahi's attainment of vote of confidence, saying party's leaders should have behaved "Responsibly".
Sources close to former premier said Nawaz had telephonic conversations with Sanaullah before and after vote of confidence in Punjab Assembly. Minister told Nawaz that party leadership did not want to call for vote of confidence and had no issue with dissolution of Punjab Assembly, sources informed.
However, senior members of their Punjab parliamentary party convinced them that CM would not be able to get vote of confidence as they were in touch with at least 12 PTI MPAs who would not vote for Parvez, they added. Sanaullah told Nawaz that party changed their stance and called for vote of confidence through Punjab Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman on parliamentary party's assurance. However, on Wednesday night, Punjab CM successfully attained vote of confidence from Assembly.
In response, Nawaz expressed his displeasure over mishandling of matter saying parliamentary leaders should have done concrete work, sources said. Just day after attaining trust of legislative, CM Elahi signed summary for dissolution of provincial assembly and forwarded it to Governor.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made telephonic contact with Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif over fast changing political situation in Punjab. According to sources PM has exchanged views at length with Asif Ali Zardari by telephone over fast evolving political situation in Punjab. PM also contacted PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif. Sources further said three leaders have decided to contest election in Punjab with full preparations following dissolution of Punjab Assembly and moving ahead in Punjab as per Constitution.
