Islamabad: Chairman of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashood Khan announced support for street children’s football team preparing for Norway Cup.
This includes facilitating logistics for one month of training and providing first-class trainers to ensure team’s readiness for international competition. Addressing National Street Children Conference-’I Am Somebody’ under auspices of Muslim Hands held here, he reaffirmed of campaign, which aims to facilitate legal registration and school enrollment of half million children across Pakistan. Conference focused on fostering dialogue, action plans and partnerships to improve lives of street-connected children in Pakistan. Documentary titled ‘I AM SOMEBODY’ trailer was screened, showcasing challenges and triumphs of street children featuring two Pakistani Street footballer across globe, made by Oscar Award winning Sharmeen Obaid Chinnoy Films. Speakers emphasised role of sports in transforming lives of street children and discussed various initiatives and shared success stories, illustrating how sports can be powerful tool for empowerment and education.
Second plenary session focused on importance of partnerships and advocacy in promoting child rights. Discussions highlighted collaborative efforts between government agencies, NGOs and international organisations to enhance protection and opportunities for street children. Conference concluded with reaffirmation to address issues including ensuring that every child is recognised and given opportunity to learn.
