Nation to observe ‘Holy Quran Day’ on Friday

Islamabad: In meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, government has been decided to celebrate Friday July 7 as Holy Quran Day across Pakistan.
Decision comes in response to recent desecration of Holy Quran in Sweden, which has sparked outrage and condemnation around world. As part of planned activities, nationwide protest rallies will be held on Friday to express solidarity and condemn incident. PM Shehbaz discussed Sweden incident and emphasised need for united national response. He appealed to entire nation, irrespective of political affiliations to participate in protest rallies. He stressed importance of honouring Holy Quran, noting that it is fundamental aspect of nation’s faith. He emphasised that violent acts targeting religion, holy individuals, beliefs, and ideas pose threat to global peace.
The prime minister also specifically directed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to actively participate in Holy Quran Day and organize protest rallies across the country. He highlighted the importance of unity in standing up against the forces promoting Islamophobia and reaffirmed the nation's commitment to preserving the sanctity of the Holy Quran.
