ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Services Chiefs have in their messages on Yaum-e-Takreem-e-Shuhada-e-Pakistan paid rich tributes to martyrs of Pakistan, who rendered ultimate sacrifice in line of duty for ensuring integrity, sovereignty and honour of nation and motherland.

President in his message said entire nation is proud of its valiant martyrs who displayed spirit of patriotism and fearlessness in testing times throughout history.

Prime Minister in tweet urged people, including children, to visit monuments and graves of martyrs and shower flowers on them as sign of affection and respect. He said we should show to world that we are nation that holds its Shuhada in veneration and affection. Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), in statement said Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Services Chiefs, retired services’ officers and representatives of civil society had paid rich tributes to martyrs of Pakistan, who rendered ultimate sacrifice in line of duty for ensuring integrity, sovereignty and honour of nation and motherland.

“Sacrifices of Shuhada are eternal, will continue to inspire future generations of countrymen and will never be forgotten, irrespective of vicious propaganda by enemies of Pakistan. “Today is day for entire nation to commemorate and honour each and every Shaheed of Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies and Civil Society who laid their lives for upholding very purpose and ideals Pakistan stands for,” reads statement. “Pakistani nation takes pride and solemnly pledges to remain deeply indebted to them and their proud families. Shuhada were, are and will continue to be our pride, come what may,” it added. Nation on eve of Youm-e-Takreem-e-Shuhada-e-Pakistan paid rich tributes to martyrs of Pakistan who rendered ultimate sacrifice in line of duty for ensuring integrity, sovereignty and honour of nation and motherland. Inter-Services Public Relations in statement said those, who paid rich tribute to martyrs include Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Services Chiefs retired services’ officers and representatives of civil society.

 It said sacrifices of Shuhada are eternal will continue to inspire future generations of countrymen and will never be forgotten, irrespective of vicious propaganda by enemies of Pakistan. ISPR said Pakistani nation takes pride and solemnly pledges to remain deeply indebted to them and their proud families. Shuhada were, are and will continue to be our pride, come what may. In this regard, main ceremony was held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir visited the martyrs’ monument, laid floral wreath and offered fateha. Later, prominent personalities also laid floral wreath at martyrs’ monument.

 Included amongst others families of martyrs, students, senior veterans,  Inspector General Islamabad police, Director General Anti-Narcotics Force, Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi, commissioners of Islamabad and Rawalpindi , Cricketers Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan and Radio Pakistan’s Newscaster Ishrat Fatima.
