Nargis Fakhri, known for her Bollywood debut in Rockstar alongside Ranbir Kapoor, has opened up about the reasons behind her exit from the Indian film industry.

Despite a successful start, Fakhri left Bollywood, and she recently shared her thoughts on why she stepped away. In a resurfaced interview, Fakhri explained that she had encountered an “unfortunate situation” that prevented her from returning to Bollywood, though she chose not to elaborate further. She clarified that the issue wasn’t related to the industry’s male-dominated environment, which she described as an international challenge. Fakhri acknowledged that not everyone in the industry had a negative impact on her career and expressed her gratitude for the wonderful people she had worked with. Fakhri also spoke about the demanding dance culture in Bollywood, describing the physical strain of performing “heaving, thrusting, and butt-moving” choreography. She found it difficult to adapt to Bollywood’s dance style, especially since she was trained in Western dance. The short rehearsal time and the pressure to quickly learn dance steps for songs further compounded the challenge. She also mentioned how the term “item song” was foreign to her, as it carried a connotation she found uncomfortable. Fakhri’s Bollywood journey began with Rockstar, but she gained significant attention through dance tracks like “Dhating Naach” and “Yaar Na Miley”. She has upcoming projects, including Housefull 5 and the Telugu film Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
