ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has made it clear that extremism will not be tolerated in Pakistan, and anyone found inciting unrest will be swiftly arrested. Speaking to the media in Islamabad,

Naqvi stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens, with a particular focus on protecting lives and property during times of political unrest. Naqvi specifically addressed the ongoing protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that all individuals attempting to reach Faizabad, a focal point for the protests, had already been arrested.

He reassured the public that mobile phone services remained fully operational in Islamabad, but acknowledged that internet services had been temporarily suspended in response to the protests. The minister also pointed out that road blockages in Punjab were less severe compared to previous instances, noting that such disruptions can be used by some individuals to incite further chaos. He emphasized that any efforts to create disorder or disturb public peace would be dealt with firmly, including arrests of those responsible for instigating violence or unrest.

Naqvi also highlighted the arrival of an important foreign delegation in the capital, reinforcing that the government would not allow any disturbances during their visit. He made it clear that any attempt to disrupt the visit or create a disturbance would be met with swift action to maintain law and order. “We will not tolerate any mischief during the visit of foreign guests,” he stated.

Although Naqvi refrained from revealing specific details, he made it clear that security measures were in place to ensure peace and stability in Islamabad. “The frequent attacks and disruptions we face every month cause significant harm to the country, and we cannot allow this to continue,” he added, emphasizing that maintaining order is a top priority for the government. The minister’s statements reflect the government’s resolve to tackle extremism and safeguard the nation from any form of unrest.
