NAB urged to initiate inquiry into KCHSL malpractices: Residents

Karachi: Residents of Karimabad Cooperative Housing Society Limited (KCHSL) in a joint statement requested National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to initiate inquiry against Society past President Imran Arwan Punjwani and ex-Secretary Irfan Arwan who committed electoral frauds, transfer of properties on forced-ground in their names, abuse of powers, renting open spaces for weddings, selling flats/shops of deceased persons without auction and misappropriation of Society’s funds in garb of CCTV installation, investment in NSD programmes besides non-depositing of receipts in Society’s account.

They asked NAB to also order by initiating forensic audit of Society’s accounts during their period and in addition to inquire about illegal casting of votes in Society’s elections. They also requested NAB to probe some work on vacant land, is work was granted by Aga Khan Ismailia Charitable Trust which may include Shelter Homes.

Resident said that NSD Room which no longer exists but was constructed on vacant land owned by Charitable Trust. Furthermore, Restaurant and warehouse on main gate and few rooms all on vacant land on which Managing Committee has no authority, they claimed. Fire and safety exits were deliberately violated as they were removed to give more way for flats besides violation of spiral stairs on each side of building, residents complained in statement.
